Do YOU have what it takes?
Do YOU have what it takes?
“The thing about inventing is that you have to be both stubborn and flexible, more or less simultaneously.” – Jeff Bezos, Amazon
Becoming a successful entrepreneur is not an easy task. You need certain personality traits and qualities to overcome the challenges that this difficult road will pave out for you, and act on it to maximise your profit and advance towards your goal. Here are 10 qualities of a winning entrepreneur, do you think you tick off all of them?
1. CONFIDENCE – Confidence is key in making your product work and your business excel. Being action oriented and proactive can take you very far. It helps you sell, and avoid the speed trap. Overconfidence, though , can be fatal and can lead to over-commitment and hasty decision making.
2. FOCUS – Being determined and goal oriented will help you align your business with your best interests, and help you through tight situations. Focussed people tend to read a lot, and use proper schedule and timelines. Sometimes, over-focussing can lead to you losing sight of the customers, too.
3. CREATIVITY – Being creative and witty can help you fire out great ideas, be exploratory and alert. Creative people tend to learn from their failures, and know how to prioritize. But of course, the people who are creative can tend to run off in different directions and find it hard to work in a team at times.
4. DELEGATOR – How can you be a good businessman if you don’t know how to delegate work and make sure you get it done? Delegators can draw on people’s abilities, and encourage team contribution. Just make sure you don’t leave any communication gaps.
5. DETERMINATION – Having faith in yourself and your product will take you places. Determination leads to responsibility, and it doesn’t let your love for your product blind you. The only drawback is that these people tend to stick with failing strategy and that can never end well.
6. INDEPENDENCE – All true entrepreneurs know that the fastest way to get things done is to do them yourself. They often see the problem or challenge with a ‘can-do’ attitude and make the best out of every situation. Beware though, they rarely ask for help and can burnout quite easily.
7. KNOWLEDGE-SEEKER – Good businessmen are always learning, always growing. They can share ideas, get outside input, and know how to create a clear roadmap for changes and growth. Knowledge is always an asset.
8. PROMOTER – A promoter, or a good communicator, knows how to weave a story with his/her words, and can be a good ambassador for their business. These kinds of people tend to be persuasive and enthusiastic, and can build and maintain an entire community of evangelists. Sometimes they might lack objectivity though, so it’s important they recognize their flaws.
9. RELATIONSHIP BUILDER – It’s very important in our cut-throat business to diversify and renew networks from time to time. These kind of entrepreneurs know how to scan and understand the local social landscape, and can be appropriately selective. They have integrity and are socially aware.
10. RISK TAKER – Being a risk taker is essential to being a good entrepreneur. Without risks, you’d
never get anywhere. They know how to take incremental risks, and how to systematically experiment and make the best out of their product and what it’s capable of. They are winners, and they know how to make the best out of every situation.
So go on and apply these tips to your daily life, and watch yourself soar to great new heights!
